How We Began
Lovely Little Leaves was founded in 2010 by Emily and James Greenfield, a couple with a shared passion for gardening and sustainable living. What started as a small blog documenting their gardening journey has blossomed into a comprehensive resource for gardeners of all experience levels.
Our journey began in our modest backyard in Bloomington, Indiana, where we experimented with heirloom vegetables, native plants, and sustainable gardening practices. As our knowledge grew, so did our desire to share what we learned with others who were equally passionate about cultivating their own little patches of paradise.
Over the years, we've expanded our team to include horticulturists, landscape designers, and environmental scientists, all dedicated to providing accurate, practical, and inspiring gardening advice. Despite our growth, we've stayed true to our roots—pun intended—maintaining the personal touch and genuine passion that started it all.

Community Involvement
At Lovely Little Leaves, we believe that gardening has the power to transform not just yards, but communities. That's why we're deeply involved in several local initiatives:
- School Garden Program: We've helped establish and maintain gardens at 15 local schools, teaching children about where their food comes from and the importance of environmental stewardship.
- Community Gardens: We support urban gardening projects that provide fresh produce to food-insecure neighborhoods and create green spaces in developed areas.
- Workshops & Classes: We offer free monthly workshops on topics ranging from composting to native plant gardening, making sustainable practices accessible to all.
- Plant Swap Events: Quarterly events where gardeners can share divisions, cuttings, and seeds, reducing waste and helping diversify local gardens.
Our commitment to community gardening stems from our belief that everyone should have access to green spaces and the opportunity to experience the joy of growing their own food and flowers.
